What I’ve learned so far is that programming the Yaesu FT-60 isn’t the easiest, most intuitive process. I’m not going to go through the programming process here. I’ll just say, even when using Chirp the process wasn’t intuitive. Disclaimer, I am used to programming the Baofeng radios so many Hams like to put down. I’ve found Baofeng to be putting some decent products. I have 6-8 of the Baofeng baofeng uv-5r,\u00a0baofeng GT-5TP and baofeng T1 FRS\/GMRS radios. They all work great and the oldest of them was purchased in 2012.<\/p>\r\n
But this is about the Yaesu FT-60R. The radio feels solid in my hands, it a nice feeling radio. I’ve ordered a\u00a0Diamond (Original) SRH77CA 144\/440 MHz. Dual-Band High Gain Handheld Antenna for it, not because of any reception or transmission problems but just on a hunch. I plan on getting in some test time over the next week, so you can expect an update. I’ve read many reviews of the radio and found them to be predominantly positive. There are plenty of sites you can go to for technical specs, I’m not going to wade into those waters. I prefer to provide a review of the look, feel and usability of the radio.
