Well, I was surprised to find that there is still a lot of activity on CB. I still have all of my Ham equipment and intend to keep and use it. I’ve just decided to have some fun on CB, it’s local and not everyone is a Ham but everyone can use a CB. No license required. It’ll never replace Amateur radio in my arsenal but it makes a nice addition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While many people, like me, began with CB there seems to be a much wider range of people on CB. Probably because the lack of a license requirement opens up the hobby to more people. I would compare CB to 2-Meter, fairly local, lots of clicks, lots of fun. I’ve never been a Ham contester and find the contests to be most annoying. I don’t see that on CB. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This isn’t a slamming of Ham radio, Ham is a great deal of fun and communicating via radio with someone hundreds or thousands of miles away is a cool feeling. I plan on setting up both Ham and CB when I renovate the shack.
