(CAVEAT – we have not yet received the Retevis Ailunce HA1UV, we have one being delivered in a few days and will post a review on our new YouTube channel – https://www.youtube.com/@BigDawgReviews once we have one in hand.)
Most of you know by now how much I love the Ailunce HA1G.
It’s a great radio, though programming can be intimidating initially.
It’s set up very much like DMR radios, which can be a pain in the ass to figure out and program.
Once you figure it out though, it’s easy enough, and quite a wonderful radio.
The Ailunce HA1UV is the new HAM version of the HA1G.
There are some differences, such as unlocking.
This radio is unlockable.
Many of you may say, the HA1G is unlockable too.
The difference is that the HA1G requires a firmware install and this sequence of key presses to unlock it for HAM bands.
And that key sequence has to be entered every time the radio is turned on, it doesn’t remain resident.
The Ailunce HA1UV however, does not require a firmware install to unlock.
Simply press the PTT and number 8 while turning it on and the screen will prompt you that it’s unlocked.
And it will remain unlocked, even after turning the radio off.
This allows one to transmit and receive on 2 meters, 70 cm, and GMRS.
As you can probably tell, we are quite excited about this one.
