I’m still waiting on some antennas, (a buddistick and a YoYo Vee) so, I thought I’d play around with Hamsphere a bit while waiting for my wife to get home. I listened to some conversations between a guy in a New York shipyard and another guy in Scotland and a few other hard to decipher conversations. I was just sweeping the bands trying to figure out which was the most popular on Hamsphere at the time. After a few minutes of that, I was ready to hop off of Hamsphere and get started on making dinner. Just before I shut the program down I heard my call sign, ever so faintly. I listened and heard it again. I made a note of the caller’s callsign and responded back. This was my first Hamsphere contact since 2012. I spoke with PU3JAI, a man named Jairo in Alvorada Brazil. As someone just getting back into the whole Ham experience I found this to be quite fun and a bit exciting. I am really looking forward to the arrival of my antennas and being able to make contact over the air without the assistance of the Internet.
