Yaesu 2980 R/E received. It came in on Sunday and I immediately set it up in my truck. Once I got it setup physically it was time to figure out how exactly it works. Like most men, I don’t pick up the instruction manual until it becomes absolutely clear that I can’t figure out what I’m doing. That moment came pretty quickly with the 2980. I’m thankful that Yaesu’s operator’s manual is straightforward and clear. I was able to figure out the auto search feature and get channels programmed into memory. This is a great feature in my opinion as it saves me from having to manually enter frequencies from a repeater book. I had some contacts on the way into work. I will continue reading through the manual and trying to learn the features of this radio. I may even get another 2980 to set up as a base in the house. More to come on this radio.
